Core Curriclum
All students will complete Initial Assessment
An individual initial assessment will be conducted of all new students to assess aptitude, interests, strengths, availability, ability and temperament to work out of their home.
This will consist of a hands-on task analysis, activities from Disabilities / Different Abilities: and an in-depth interview by a licensed rehabilitation counselor and/ or prospective employer to determine appropriate CSR track.

to know you, students will have the opportunity to clarify
their work values, work preferences, long-term and short term
goals and needs.
Students will learn how to identify and talk about their workplace strengths and weaknesses and how these unique qualities affect their ability to go to work and stay at work
Preliminary job goals will be determined by the end of the first week.

Disabilities-Different Abilities: A New Perspective for Job Hunters

learning about typical stereotypes, job hunters will better
understand how to address the concerns of the prospective
employer in regards to their particular challenges.
Common concerns of job hunters including disclosure, insurance, unsuccessful work attempts, getting hired with a criminal background, and gaps in employment will be discussed and addressed.
Each student's work references will be checked and a professional resume developed which stresses their skills and abilities. Students will complete practice applications, mock interviews and practice other hard skills associated with job search.
Job search strategies including telephonic techniques, follow-up techniques, dealing with rejection and managing stress during the job search will be practiced. Reasonable accommodations will be explored. Retention strategies that will help students keep the job once they have been hired will be taught
